Kiyong Park

Ceramist Kiyong Park has dedicated his life to observing, researching and reinterpreting ceramics of all eras, from prehistoric earthenware to the moon jars of Joseon Dynasty. In his works, he only uses the wheel to create moon jars. “I get inspiration from pottery and tableware from the past. I look at old tableware and jewelry boxes as well as prehistoric earthenware and ask, ‘why did they make this in this shape?’ I never stop wondering,” Park said. Park’s workshop is filled with moon jars of all shapes and sizes, from sleek and smooth vases to somewhat rough rice bowls.
