Woodland Hills Pottery

Since discovering pottery in Japan 20 years ago, Hugh of Woodland Hills Pottery has continued to pursue pottery at different studios until he moved upstate in 2020. With his move, he set up his pottery studio and built a wood-firing kiln.

As a solo potter, Hugh fires his pottery in his wood kiln 3 times a year: September, January and May. Preparation for firing the kiln takes 3-4 months, which includes making the pieces, testing glazes, collecting firewood and etc.
