Meet our Japanese MIno-yaki Ceramic Matcha Bowl, handcrafted by Morikawa (森川) in Mino Province, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
This Mino-yaki tea bowl has a classic wan-nari shape with a subtle spiral effect called rokurome (ろくろ目: pottery wheel marks) made by the potter's fingers as they slide up the bowl on potter's wheel. It is glazed in a deep midnight blue that almost appears black in certain lighting.
Mino-yaki (美濃焼) is a type of Japanese pottery produced in Mino Province in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Since the introduction of mass production in the Meiji period (1868–1912), Mino ware accounts for around 50% of Japanese pottery produced today.
The bowl is perfect for whisking and drinking matcha from. The bowl comes packaged in a paper box, thus perfect for gifting.
