Japanese Green-Glazed Chawan/Matcha Bowl

Regular price $70.00 USD

Meet the Japanese Green-Glazed Chawan by Meizan Kiln, Shigaraki, Japan.

Crafted in one of Japan’s six ancient ceramic regions, this tea bowl carries the quiet strength of Shigaraki ware—where clay, fire, and time shape each form with subtle variation. Meizan Kiln, with a lineage rooted in centuries of making, continues this tradition through works that balance everyday function with a grounded, enduring presence.

Finished in a soft green glaze, the surface gathers depth as it meets the textured clay beneath, revealing gentle shifts in tone with light. The form is well-suited for whisking and drinking matcha, offering both comfort in the hand and ease in use.

A carved detail along the foot introduces a subtle point of distinction, while the potter’s mark rests on the base—an understated signature of its origin.

Each piece comes packaged in a paper box, making it well-suited for gifting. Natural variations in glaze, tone, and texture are to be expected, reflecting the character of the material and the firing process.
