Japanese Shigaraki Katakuchi Bowl with Ash-White Glaze

Regular price $100.00 USD

Handcrafted in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture—one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns—this ceramic katakuchi embodies the quiet beauty of one of Japan’s oldest pottery traditions.

Formed from Shigaraki’s naturally stone-rich clay, the bowl is finished in a soft ash-white glaze that reveals subtle variations in tone and texture. Circular areas of exposed clay punctuate the surface, creating a gentle rhythm that highlights the earthy character of the vessel while celebrating the material beneath the glaze.

The integrated pouring spout allows for smooth, controlled pouring, making it ideal for preparing and serving matcha, sake, sauces, or dressings. Its balanced proportions and understated presence also make it a beautiful serving bowl for small dishes.

Each piece is individually handcrafted, resulting in slight variations in form, glaze, and surface that reflect the touch of the maker.
