Japanese Shigaraki Leaf Plate
This leaf-shaped ceramic plate from Shiga, Japan, brings the quiet forms of nature to the table. Gently formed with softly undulating edges, the plate follows the organic silhouette of a leaf, while hand-incised veins travel across the surface and emphasize its natural form.
A muted olive-brown glaze settles unevenly across the clay, gathering within the carved lines and along the edges to create subtle variations in depth and tone. The softly mottled surface and gentle irregularities give the piece an earthy, tactile character.
Its shallow form is well suited for small dishes, seasonal fruit, sweets, or accompaniments to tea. Even when left empty, its sculptural shape and subdued natural tones give it a quiet presence on the table.

As each piece is made by hand, variations in shape, glaze, color, and surface are part of its individual character.
