Japanese Stoneware Mamezara Plates, Set of two
This set of Japanese mamezara handcrafted in Higashi-Mino of Gifu Prefecture in Japan by Studio Rokuro celebrates the quiet character of handmade ceramics. Traditionally used as small dishes for condiments, pickles, sweets, or other small accompaniments, mamezara bring both utility and charm to the table.
Each piece is individually finished, with subtly speckled glazes, and expressive hand-drawn decoration. Loose, gestural lines in deep brown and black move across muted cream and earthy surfaces, giving every dish a distinct, almost calligraphic quality. Variations in glaze, markings, and shape are part of the appeal, revealing the hand of the maker rather than striving for perfect uniformity.
Small enough to use throughout the day, these dishes work beautifully for soy sauce, salt, spices, a bite-sized sweet, jewelry, or simply as miniature ceramic objects to collect and enjoy.
