Japanese Tokoname Mogake Kyusu Tea Pot
Meet our Japanese Tokoname Mogake Kyusu Tea Pot, handcrafted by potter Hitoshi Tanigawa (Jin 仁) a leading ceramist in the Mogake technique, a traditional Tokoname ware method where seaweed is wrapped around the clay before firing, creating unique fired patterns. The fine seaweed fibers leave delicate, multicolored markings in scarlet, pale green, and gold, giving each piece a one-of-a-kind character. Over time, its matte surface develops even richer hues, making it more beautiful with use.
Each piece is individually made, with natural variations in pattern and tone.
Presented in a paulownia wood box. Potter’s mark beneath the handle.
