About Marushin Pottery: Founded in 1949 (Showa 24), Marushin Pottery has long been known for its craftsmanship in Mino ware, creating pieces that find their way into both bustling restaurants and quiet homes. Behind each vessel are artisans who carry generations of skill and devotion to the craft.
Among them is a potter who continues the legacy of Kamekichi, a pottery lineage spanning over 150 years. Drawing from this heritage, the artisan recently brought new life to the Kamekichi Donburi — a bowl once used for special occasions such as weddings and funerals. Through careful revival and modern interpretation, this piece bridges past and present, honoring the spirit of tradition while finding its place in today’s table.
