Korean Ceramic Cutlery Rest
Handcrafted by October Kim (Siwol Kim) in Korea, this ceramic cutlery rest reflects the artist’s exploration of stone-like forms through earth and sand. Kim’s practice transforms materials weathered from stone into objects that return visually and texturally to their geological origins.
With its softly irregular oval shape and naturally speckled surface, each piece resembles a small river stone. Subtle variations in form, texture, and markings reveal the hand of the maker and make every piece unique.
Designed to hold chopsticks, a spoon, or other cutlery, it brings a quiet, sculptural element to the table.

About October Kim: Artist Siwol October Kim offers a contemporary reinterpretation of rock formations. Sand and earth, weathered from boulders, are presented to the artisan as materials. Through human touch, wind, and fire, these elements solidify back into stone. Existing between nature and artifice, the solid, coarse materiality of the stone captures a moment that reverses the passage of weathering and time.
