Korean Wood-Fired Porcelain Spouted Matcha Bowl with Bird Motif
Meet the Korean Wood-Fired Porcelain Spouted Tea Bowl, wheel-thrown by Kimo An of Tousanyo in Gimhae, Korea, and fired in a traditional wood-fired climbing kiln.
Crafted from porcelain, the bowl features an ash-splattered surface accented with sanggam inlay, a traditional Korean technique in which contrasting clay is embedded into carved motifs. Delicate bird imagery emerges through the inlay, while natural ash deposits from the wood firing create subtle variations in color, texture, and depth.
The warmth and presence imparted by the firing process bring a grounded, tactile quality to daily tea rituals, making each piece uniquely expressive.
The potter’s mark is impressed on the underside.
Dimensions: approx. ⌀ 4.75" x W5" (including the spout) x H 2.3"
