Meet our Japanese Tokoname Ceramic Coffee Mug, Copper Brown, handcrafted by a craftsman in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, the historic center of kyusu production.
Pairs well with the ceramic coffee/tea pot found here, made with same color Tokoname clay.
Tokoname ware has a history of 1000 years, producing unglazed earthenware during the end of the Heian period and is one of the six oldest kilns in Japan. Tokoname ware includes everyday utensils such as yama chawan, lipped bowls, pots and Jars, and since the later half of the Edo period, tea utensils.
